I grew up with Nancy Drew and still enjoy her stories. This one is of course the classic story line with her solving another mystery. She always does get herself into some kind of trouble but gets herself out .

I forced myself to give this book a try, but I had to stop after only 28 pages. The writing style is not for me. If you're looking for a good juvenile-level mystery, but you can't get into Nancy Drew, try Absolutely Truly or The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle.

The third in the original Nancy Drew books is an interesting and fun juvenile mystery. Nancy is a great character who has certainly withstood the test of time for good reason. Independent, compassionate, and resourceful, Nancy is a great combination of femininity and strength. In this story, Nancy explores the mystery behind an abandoned bungalow, a teenager whose guardians are far from kind, and a case of fraud that her father is exploring. Nancy must help her new young friend when the girl runs to the girl detective for safety – while at the same time juggling her father's case. With her friend's happiness at stake, Nancy braces herself for an exciting adventure. A quick read for adults, the original Nancy Drew mysteries are ideal for children 10+ who want a mystery featuring a strong female character.

Why there's always a helpless girl in the Nancy Drew series? In this one, it was Laura. I think somehow it can change to be a little bit less helpless. Other than that, I think this book wasn't that bad.
