I love the Rainbow Fish stories! This story is about a new addition. At first he is shunned because when RF gave all the fish one of his scaled, he inadvertently created a clique. Naturally, a lesson is learned, a the new fish is allowed in. Gorgeous illustrations!

I'm so disappointed in these books. Just like in the first book, the other fish (no the rainbow fish) are bullies. Once again, another fish comes around, and they refuse to include him. They never seem to like another fish if it's different in any way. In the first book they don't like Rainbow Fish until he gives away one of his shiny scales to each of them (he shouldn't be forced to share something that's his in order to make everyone like him) and in this one, Rainbow Fish corrals them all into helping this new fish to not be eaten by a shark after they all shun the new fish for not having a shiny scale (that at one point none of them had either). It's shameful to be honest. In the end, Rainbow Fish convinces them all to change their minds and include the new fish but it is embarrassing that they have to be convinced of this. Yes, this is how children behave sometimes, but after they already behaved so shamefully in the first book, you'd think in the next book they'd be more inclusive and not so rude. Maybe I'm looking too much into a children's book, but for something with such beautiful artwork, the story with such bullying is saddening.
