For a year, the murder of Yvonne Harrison has baffled Thames Valley CID. But one man has yet to tackle the case, Chief Inspector Morse. I completed this book and series as my New Years Resolution - how sad to have this great series end! I tried to take my time reading so I could enjoy this book. I'll miss not only the Morse story lines and character, but also the challenge to my vocabulary!

Colin Dexter himself said that the last chapter was the best he ever wrote. (It was omitted from the, brilliant, TV series!)

So sad that John Thaw has died. I find the Inspector Lewis series, developed from the Inspector Morse series, starring Kevin Whately as good and recommend it.

A London Times bestseller - for me, the
best so far. Interesting plot, entertaining characters and dialogue, unexpected ending.
