Best descriptions I've ever read of the Battle of Crecy and the importance of archery in warfare.

A great bit of historical fiction. It feels very grounded and immersive, with a well researched setting and many believable characters. No black and white heroics here; everyone in this novel comes across as a very flawed human being. If there's one complaint I might make, I almost feel like the characters are a bit too 'grey'. For much of the book I couldn't sympathize much with the main character, as he was often doing worse things than his enemies! For a while I was hoping the French would finally win for once and give that jerk a beating. He does develop more of a conscience by the end of the book though, so he may be more likeable in the rest of the series.

Story of Thomas of Hookton, the Archer -- set in the 100 year war --
This quickly becomes the hunt for the Grail...
such a good story -- I could not put it down -I read all three books in a heartbeat (or so it seemed) I want more.
