Not as good as I thought it would be.

Writer Mark Waid begins his run on the title by turning the traditional Hulk format on its head - what if Bruce Banner, a brilliant scientist, concedes that there's no cure for his condition and decides to give his services over to SHIELD, who treat the outbreaks of the Hulk as a weapon against bad guys. Instead of Banner as victim, here he's more in control, monitoring his stress levels and assembling a team of scientists who work on projects to make up for all the destruction he's caused over the years. (Also, rivalry between Banner and the big brains who get all the glory in the Marvel Universe, Tony Stark and Reed Richards, is a welcome character development.) Of course, the green guy does come out to smash, so there's a lot to enjoy here for everyone. Highly recommended for comic fans. (And make sure to check out Waid's run over on DAREDEVIL, too.)
