An ambitious collection of travel essays. Not my favorite work by Solomon, but it still displays his incredible writing ability.

I loved this book! It is beautifully written, perceptive, interesting, thoughtful, and thought-provoking. I learned so much! Reading about his many adventures and insights have made me more curious about the world and interested in reading more by Andrew Solomon.

Solomon writes in a very intimate manner and sensitive insight about individual people, their economic, art, culture, social and political situations. It also demonstrates the transformative power of traveling to the readers.
