Joey Alexander will be fifteen in June 2018. So he is only 14 years old and he made his first album when he was 11 years old. He learned to play the piano by listening to his dad jazz record albums at 6 years old. Joey is from Indonesia and I saw him live this weekend at Jazz Alley. He had the audience in the palm of his hand. Joey writes most of his own compositions. Let me tell you, Joey may be recording the future jazz classic from what I heard in his live concert. Don't miss Joey when he returns to Seattle!

Just saw an outstanding show at the Jazz Alley in Seattle that headlined a weekend of sold out shows with Joey Alexander! Now I got tickets to see him and his trio because I took out his first two albums from the KCLS. At the time, Joey Alexander was twelve years old when he recorded his first album. He has recorded an album in 2015, 2016 & 2017! He is now fithteen years old. Yet he plays like a seasoned pro. On a recording you don't see the subtle things about his performances. Joey likes to stand at times when he feels the music requires him to become more physical at the piano. He is not very tall, yet when he stands he really excites an audience. For all those sold out show in Seattle, there must be some Joey Alexander fans out in the King County Library System. If you would like to relive the show and hear his own compositions again, now is the time to place your holds!
