Add a CommentBig, well-written sweep of history that takes you from early code-breaking (Enigma, Bletchley, etc.) all the way through to today's cyber spying (NSA, M16, China, Russia, corporations, and yes, teen-aged hackers.) There's a focus on the committed marriage between the U.S. and U.K. intelligence agencies, however much the big-budget Americans clumsily tread on their more reserved colleagues. Also several case histories of famous hacks and the impact of 9/11. The author leaves you pondering on where we go from here in trying to have a truly open, truly safe Internet. "Walled gardens," anyone?
Great primer on today's headlines.
Took the historical big picture from code-breaking, corporate espionage, cyberweapon, cyberwar, Snowden to encryption passed from government to corporation flogging to anybody.
