The first thing that attracted me to this book was its title, and the story didn't fail to disappoint. I fell in love with "Going Geek" from the very beginning. I've always had a soft spot for the characters who aren't part of the "in crowd" but care about the relationships that really matter.

Skylar Hoffman was one of the IT girls at her boarding school... until she wasn’t. Throughout the story she learned that money and popularity don't define a person. Her relationships with the other characters were so realistic, in both positive and negative ways. I couldn't put this book down because it was so cool to see how Skylar's personality and friendships evolved throughout the book. At the beginning her inner dialogue was slightly infuriating as she cared too much about her status among the popular kids, looking down on those who weren't part of her little exclusive social circle. She went from snobby, rich-kid IT-girl, to one of the not-so-popular people who understood what really mattered in life. There was a touch of romance, but the story didn't revolve around it, which I appreciated. Overall the plot was brilliant, and the character development was even better.

I would give this book 5/5 stars.
