Enjoyable with beautiful scenery, fashion and predictable story.

Five stars for the costumes, furniture, scenery, actors. But this being a Julian Fellows production, the spoken parts are dumbed down to Walt Disney level while the plink plink of strings drives home - in case you didn't get it - the point that none of it is serious; it is all tongue in cheek. I almost gave up after parts 1 & 2, but 3 & 4 were better.

A charming Victorian tale of love with colourful characters and underlying bits of humour! Tom Hollander does not disappoint while the bonus features add additional insight.

An enjoyable entertainment developed around the usual Trollope themes, well acted by a fine ensemble cast that obviously had a great deal of fun in the process. Lovely cinematography and a directorial hand that knew how to keep things light. Even Julian Fellowes' avuncular turns as a would-be Alastair Cook is tolerable. The theme music is lifted shamelessly from Shostakovich, but who cares. Altogether, a relaxing way for adults to pass an enjoyable evening or two.

An entertaining period drama of parlour intrigues and love versus money/class that should appeal to fans of Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, or Downton Abbey. Though the first episode was a bit slow to start, by the fourth episode we were leaning forward in our seats, grinning, gleefully hoping for the Great Comeuppance.

While very predictable, this is an enjoyable and beautifully filmed adaptation of Trollope's novel, exposing again the foibles of British 19th century society.

Will Mary's unorthodox birth get in the way of true love?

Another enjoyable mid-Victorian era BBS production in the finest picturesque fashion though too familiar theme of love and class divide. Sold by the introduction narrative by Jilian Fellows and not disappointed.

Love conquers all, except may be between noble and working class, doctor or not:

Mother, I'd love you to be happy.
-If you wish to see me happy ever again, marry money!
===
Why, Doctor? You say yourself he is in love with Mary. If any man living can understand that, it is me.
===
Is the woman who prevents a man from ruining himself the one who truly loves him? Or the woman who holds onto him through thick and thin, cost what it may?
===
When will you return to America?
-You think I should be done with my husband hunting, then?
Is it hunting or drag hunting?
-What do you mean?
With you as the lure, I sense plenty of excitement in the chase, but no chance of a kill at the end of it.
-While you prefer to catch your quarry, Doctor Thorne?
I prefer a proper resolution, Miss Dunstable, yes. I hope you won't hold that against me.

Love conquers all, except may be between noble and working class, doctor or not:

To me you are my daughter. And any man who has the honour of your love should be the envy of the world.
===
'Here comes the lover, Sighing like a furnace, With a woeful ballad Made to his mistress' eyebrow.'
===
Doctor, there have been lovemakings of a very advanced kind.
-What took place? Speak out, Lady Arabella. I won't have Mary's conduct impugned by innuendo. What is it that the eavesdroppers have heard?
===
I can assure you an offer was made by Frank and such an offer cannot be without its allurements.
===
Forgive me, it is hard to go on. For when I do, I think I must destroy the happiness of one I love more than my life.
-Well, surely, the truth can't be so very bad, sir.
It is bad enough, by heaven.
