What can you do if your fun-loving, rowdy monster refuses to go to bed? It’s certainly a dilemma.
Fear not – the illustrated instructions in this handy picture book will be exactly what you need.
(However, they may not be exactly what you’d expect!)
Should you feed your monster warm milk at bedtime? No! Monsters aren’t fond of milk, so try a big glass of calming slimy bug juice instead.
Counting sheep or cuddling your dog won’t help to settle your monster either … and dancing the Monster Stomp is definitely not recommended.
With all those “don’ts”, what should you do? Well, along with the bug juice (flavoured with slimy slug trails), give your monster an ice-cold bath and scrub him with mud soap. After ensuring that his teeth are brushed and flossed, find his favourite squishy-squashy toy and read him the scariest story that you can find. Then, watch your monster’s eyelids droop … and enjoy his humungous monster snores all night long!
This silly, playful tale is full of tongue-in-cheek advice. Children (and parents) who enjoy this story will also enjoy Andrea Rosenbaum’s “Trains Don’t Sleep” and Marc Brown’s “Monkey: Not Ready for Bedtime!”
