A difficult read. Marquez is a brilliant writer, there's no doubt about that, but this book had so much narration and so little dialogue it was hard to finish.
Also, one of the main characters - Florentino - is in my mind not a likable character.
Marquez is so poetic, such beautiful language, but this book left a lot to be desired. I did not find it very romantic (in fact, Florentino's actions are at times rather creepy), but it ended very nicely. The very last chapter makes up for a less than magnificent first five chapters.
