Solid, workmanlike biopic of the legendary "Manos de Piedra," Roberto Duran. If you like fight pictures, you'll like this one. If you like acting, you won't be disappointed here. Edgar Ramirez is superb as Duran, and so is Robert De Niro, as trainer Ray Arcel. if you're an anti-imperialist, there's some grist for your mill too since a prime motivation throughout Duran's career was the colonial status of his native Panama. But mostly why I enjoyed HANDS OF STONE is that it made me re-live the Duran-Leonard title fights. Those two 1980 fights were huge, I'm talking "Where-were-you-at-the-time?" gigantic. Makes me want to go back and watch them on YouTube.
